VERBS THAT DON’T TIE TOGETHER
-
Living verbs on shoelaces, noodles and string
They wave around in sea and air
And in the ground
Finding for an end to meet
All the waving, the changing
Making their own verb versions
Didn’t leave room for sitting still
That dreamy resolution there
An opaque orb of a hedge
Through which a home promise

Humans, history, thoughts, are complex. Intergenerational, tensions, tensions within ourselves. Though we constantly seek to find an end to meet, often there’s no connecting them. It’s natural to want that feeling of resolution, it feels like a baseline. But it’s not always there. Sometimes we have to sit in the opaque forever. We’re all in that together. You’re not alone. It’s not wrong to want to find the ends to meet. But it takes a lot of effort that may be better spent finding quiet within it where you can.
